Jota couldn’t wipe the smile off of his face after today’s Celtic match against Aberdeen at Pittodrie, as he partied with the away support.

The Portuguese winger was the man who netted the winner for the Bhoys in a crucial 2-1 victory, sending the visiting end into raptures.

It was a long journey for the hardy Hoops fans and the late goal sent everyone away very happy indeed.

That was obvious from the post-match scenes, with the crowd celebrating with the squad and manager, who were delighted to receive the adulation.

For Jota, it’s a brand new experience. He was absolutely buzzing in his post-match interview, explaining how his family were all part of it.

Speaking to Celtic TV, the winger said: “Yeah, how good is this? I’ve never seen something like this. And my family was in the middle of them, so I’m just waiting to get home and ask how they felt. Because I think they have never experienced something like this.

“My girlfriend just text saying, ‘They’re asking for pictures with us.’

“They saw the Leverkusen game at home. And then they just travelled from Glasgow to here. Yeah, for sure, they are very happy.”

That’s the kind of thing you love to hear from a summer signing. Especially one on loan who we still have to convince to commit his future to the club.

Celtic have an option to buy on his season-long loan from Benfica and it’d be great if the club felt like home before we get to negotiations on personal terms next year.

I say next year. It’d be perfect if Celtic somehow managed to make the move permanent before then. But we know how the club like to drag things out.

In the meantime, I hope Jota continues to impress on the pitch and continues to find happiness off of it. It could be the perfect union.
