Celtic fans will be intrigued to see what Adam Idah can bring to the table after joining on loan from Norwich City on deadline day.

The Republic of Ireland international is believed to have turned down interest from clubs in England and on the continent to seal a move to Parkhead.

Since making his journey into senior football, Idah has registered 17 goals alongside four assists in 115 appearances across all competitions [Transfermarkt].

Brendan Rodgers was clear in his desire to introduce another striker into the fold during the window amid Hyeongyu Oh’s involvement at the AFC Asian Cup with South Korea.

Kyogo Furuhashi has been a constant starter this campaign for Rodgers; however, Idah will offer some variety in the final third over the coming months.

Hailing from Cork, the Canaries forward is joined by Nicolas Kuhn as the Hoops’ only two incomings in January, leaving fans intrigued to see how both fare in green and white.

Aberdeen lay in wait tomorrow at Pittodrie, and it remains to be seen whether either player will be given the nod to start as Celtic bid to move eight points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Adam Idah reveals friendship with Celtic favourite Patrick Roberts

Patrick Roberts is a much-loved figure among the Celtic support due to his successful two-and-a-half-year stint in Glasgow, which yielded 18 goals and 26 assists in 78 outings, per Transfermarkt.

The 26-year-old is now at promotion-chasing Sunderland after spending time on loan at several other clubs over the years. However, he still shares a love for the Bhoys and told official club media last year that Parkhead is like a ‘second home’ to him.

In his inaugural interview after signing for the Hoops, Idah has revealed that he shares a close friendship with Roberts, whom he has visited Glasgow with on a number of occasions.

Idah stated: [Celtic FC YouTube] “I am over the moon. It is such a good experience for me and I am so excited to be here.

“I’m quite close with Paddy Roberts and he has brought me up to Glasgow quite a few times. The city is lovely and I love being up here.”

He later added: “I spoke with Brendan and we had an exciting talk. Being such a big manager, I think it will benefit me and I can develop a lot under him.”

Celtic look ahead to Aberdeen clash in the Scottish Premiership

Undoubtedly, the winter transfer window has provoked some mixed emotions among the support ahead of Rodgers’ men travelling to face Aberdeen.

Nevertheless, many will be keen to look forward to the remainder of the campaign as Celtic battle it out on two fronts for silverware.

Winning at Pittodrie will be crucial to maintaining momentum in the title race. Anything less than three points could stand the Hoops at a disadvantage, with Hibernian at Easter Road to follow on Wednesday.

There is a lot at stake for Celtic in their upcoming run of fixtures. Put simply, they can’t afford to take their eye off the ball, given the sizeable Champions League financial bounty on the table at the end of the season for the league winners.
