One thing you can’t criticise Celtic for is how they bring in young players from around the world.
Whether it’s Ange Postecoglou dipping into the Japan market, or Neil Lennon signing Jeremie Frimpong from Manchester City.
It has been success on top of success for Celtic, and many of those stories are thriving in the English Premier League.
The Celtic Park faithful will have an eye on what is going to happen at Liverpool next season, because they have two former Hoops stars on their books now.
Virgil van Dijk was another player who Lennon signed, and now he is one of the world’s best, but he will now play alongside Frimpong next season.

Celtic hero Jeremie Frimpong on his journey to Liverpool
Frimpong has joined Liverpool from German giants Bayer Leverkusen, as his rise continues after his success at Celtic.
The Netherlands international was asked about that journey, including the risk of leaving Manchester City as a teenager and moving to Scotland’s most successful club.
Frimpong told Sky Sports that ‘a lot is different’, including how he has become a ‘winner’, as well as being far more experienced.
“I know what it feels like,” said Frimpong about joining the champions of England. “Joining the champions, it’s a privilege.
“I have always believed in myself. I know what I can do. I am a winner. That’s what I am going to bring to the team.
“What’s different? I think a lot is different. When I left (Manchester City for Celtic), I was a kid.
“For me, I have so much experience now. I am not like 30, you understand, but I still have that type of experience, so for me, it’s a lot different.”
Frimpong’s career in numbers, including Celtic success
Frimpong will be replacing Trent Alexander-Arnold at Liverpool, as he has big shoes to fill after the England star left and joined Real Madrid.
From the get-go, the pressure is going to be on the all-action right-back, because Liverpool have a Premier League title to defend.
| Club | Games | Goals | Assists | Trophies |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| B. Leverkusen | 190 | 30 | 44 | 3 |
| Celtic | 51 | 3 | 8 | 3 |
But it’s something Frimpong is very much used to, as his career is already littered with trophies.
