Former Celtic FC Women star Jacynta Galabadaarachchi has found her next club.
The attacker departed Celtic around a week ago after an enjoyable two-and-a-half year spell in Glasgow.
Jacynta tormenting SWPL defenders in the hoops was a sight to behold, and something similar may occur next season, in a funny way.
That’s because she had swapped the green-and-white of Celtic for the green-and-white of Sporting Lisbon, signing for their Feminino side.
The Portuguese outfit confirmed the news on Tuesday evening, with Jacynta featuring in an amusing signing video. (@FutFemSCP)
She is seen dialling a phone and then querying: “Hi, is this Sporting? This is Jacynta Galabadaarachchi. Galabadaarachchi… No problem, you can call me Jaz.”

While the Jaz name might be a new one to a Celtic support who knew her as Jacynta, it’s a clever marketing move from the Lisbon side.
Thankfully, Fran Alonso’s side won’t have to worry about running into the Australian-born winger in Europe this season. Sporting have not qualified for the Champions League, with champions Benfica taking Portugal’s one and only place.
It’s an intriguing career move from Jacynta, moving to a league that is rated lower than the SWPL. It will be interesting to find out how she gets on and what level she can reach in the women’s game.
At the very least, she’ll get some warmer weather in Portugal. Just ask the Celtic men’s side about that.
In other news, more big changes are coming to the UEFA Champions League from 2024/25 and Celtic will be affected
