There were concerns over two of Celtic’s wingers overnight but Brendan Rodgers has eased worries about any significant injuries suffered by Nicolas Kuhn and Daizen Maeda.
The manager shared after beating Manchester City on Tuesday night that Kuhn had felt a problem in his knee, so when he wasn’t named in the match squad for Chelsea on Saturday it raised alarm bells.
Then, mid-match against the Blues, Daizen Maeda went down with a knee knock of his own after a collision and was substituted off in the first half.
With just a week to go until the start of the Scottish Premiership Celtic don’t want any of their players hitting the treatment table.
Thankfully, Rodgers isn’t expecting them to be out of action for a long time.
Brendan Rodgers on Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn
The manager said post-match [Daily Record]: “Nicolas was stretching in training and felt a sore back. He probably needs a few days.
“Daizen was just a clash of knees and there’s no need to risk anything at this stage of the season. Hopefully, he’ll be okay when we get back.”

James Forrest came into the team as a starter against Chelsea while Luis Palma was back on the scoresheet after replacing Maeda, also assisting Mikey Johnston’s effort in the 4-1 victory.
It does all highlight that there isn’t too much depth in the attacking department though and it’s easy to understand why Celtic are reportedly on the hunt for another wing option.
Rodgers is said to have had personal discussions with Royal Antwerp talent Michel-Ange Balikwisha about a move to Celtic.
His arrival would add a bit of quality to the wide areas, also increasing competition for those already established within the squad.
Injuries can quickly mount up and Celtic need plenty of tools ahead of a new Champions League format and three domestic competitions.
