Nine Celtic fixtures moved to new dates as Europa League campaign impacts schedule

The SPFL have confirmed that nine Celtic matches have been rescheduled.

The Hoops failed to qualify for the Champions League league phase after losing to Kairat Almaty on penalties, settling instead for the Europa League.

Celtic will play the likes of Roma and Feyenoord in the league phase of UEFA’s second-rate competition, with fixtures announced at the weekend.

It means a number of Celtic’s Scottish Premiership games previously scheduled for a Saturday have now been moved to the Sunday.

SPFL and Celtic announce changes to nine fixtures

Celtic confirmed the SPFL announcement to supporters on the club’s official website, writing: “Due to Celtic’s upcoming matches in the UEFA Europa League, a number of dates for our Scottish Premiership fixtures have been updated by the SPFL.

“A full list of the updated fixtures that have been communicated to the club can be found below.”

Here are the nine new fixture dates and kick-off times. Games after October 19 could still see their kick-off times changed if Sky Sports or Premier Sports choose them for live TV broadcast:

• Celtic v Motherwell (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 19 October
• Dundee v Celtic (K.O: 1200)
• Sunday 26 October
• Heart of Midlothian v Celtic (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 9 November
• Celtic v Kilmarnock (K.O: 1600)
• Sunday 30 November
• Hibernian v Celtic (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 14 December
• Falkirk v Celtic (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 21 December
• Celtic v Aberdeen (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 25 January
• Heart of Midlothian v Celtic (K.O: 1500)
• Sunday 1 February
• Celtic v Falkirk (K.O: 1500)

Celtic’s upcoming TV games

Only one of those nine fixtures have so far been picked for live TV broadcast, and that is Dundee vs Celtic on October 19 at Dens Park.

Sky Sports will show that game, and they will also screen Kilmarnock vs Celtic live on September 14, which is the Premiership champions’ next league game after the international break.

Partick Thistle vs Celtic in the Premier Sports Cup is a week later and that will be shown live, of course, by Premier Sports.
