Sebastian Tounekti is Celtic’s answer to Ronaldinho?

Anders Lindberg is a Swedish reporter who writes for Fotboll Sthlm and he has told The Scotsman that Celtic fans will enjoy what Tounekti can offer.

Tounekti, according to Lindberg, is a showman and enjoys expressing his individuality similar to Barcelona and Brazil icon Ronaldinho.

It is said that the winger is not a fan of what modern-day football has become, and prefers to rebel against tactical rigidity and whatnot.

Lindberg explained: “He has a great mentality, both on and off the pitch. In my first interview with him in Sweden, he spoke a lot about being a showman – and I think Celtic will enjoy him.

“He was pushing for the move, he really wanted it. Speaking to people, no one has anything bad to say about him, though.

“His showmanship, he said modern-day football feels very by the book, and all about tactics and strategy, but he wants to think outside the box.

“We discussed Ronaldinho and those types of players. That may be a big name to use, but he is that type of player. He wants the kids to enjoy watching him play, and the supporters. But it is not just dribbling into nothing.”

But Michael Stewart has a warning about Tounekti

According to Lindberg, Celtic fans should be pleased with the signing of Tounekti and reckons he could be a player who is sold for even greater money in the future than the £5.2m spent on him.

However, Premier Sports pundit Michael Stewart has dampened expectations somewhat by saying Tounekti may struggle with the speed of the Scottish game.

Stewart said: “The player from Hammarby. I was talking to a couple of guys in Sweden that I know. Not being overly negative about things.

“But they were saying that their concern with Tounekti would be that at Hammarby, obviously, you have the ability to have a couple of bad games, it’s not going to be the end of the world.

“They thought that the pace of the Scottish game would perhaps be a little too much for him, so we will wait and see.”
