No Celtic Park return for Aiden McGeady this weekend & Hibernian boss Lee Johnson makes us wait

Hibernian are still without a number of key players for their trip to Celtic Park this weekend.

Lee Johnson‘s side have struggled against Ange Postecoglou‘s men this season, losing both matches by an aggregate scoreline of 10-1.

The likes of Daizen Maeda, Aaron Mooy and James Forrest have all netted against the Hibees this campaign, and Celtic fans will hope for more goals on Saturday afternoon.

Hibs have improved in recent times though, and could welcome back Jake Doyle-Hayes from injury this weekend.

As reported by the Edinburgh Evening News, the Irishman is back fit and could start at Celtic Park.

But, apart than that, the news isn’t brilliant from a Hibs point of view.

Kyle Magennis and Joe Newell won’t make the fixture, while Martin Boyle and Rocky Bushiri are also ruled out.

Finally, and most notably from a Celtic point of view, Aiden McGeady won’t be appearing back at Celtic Park.

The winger was ruled out for the rest of the season earlier this month, after suffering a hamstring injury in a win over Kilmarnock.

So no McGeady. But David Marshall should still be there. And Celtic fans will surely have some warm comments from Lee Johnson to satisfy them.

The Hibs manager has been effusive in his praise of us so far this season.

In December, he described this Celtic team as “one of the best sides I have seen” adding that he’s come up against Manchester City and Manchester United as a coach. (Daily Record)

Days later, he predicted that we’ll net double figures against some poor side this year. (Football Scotland)

He’s also praised the work ethic of our Japanese talent among other things, so it’s fair to say that we’re due some nice compliments this weekend.

But we’ll have to wait. The Hibs boss wasn’t speaking to the media today, instead giving his assistant boss Jamie McAllister the honours.

About 10 past 5 on Saturday is fine for your next lot of gushing praise Lee.
