Ange Postecoglou wants his Celtic team to be revered for the football they play, not just in Scotland but abroad too.
Postecoglou and his Bhoys made waves on Wednesday night by tactically dismantling Rangers and thrashing them 3-0, with all the goals coming before half-time.
It was a wonderful watch not just for our fans but neutrals too. The tactics on display are being written about far and wide, as we discussed yesterday.
And it’s all part of Postecoglou’s long-term vision for Celtic. He wants his outfit to be a real beacon that shines beyond the borders of Scotland.

Postecoglou lays out Celtic vision
Speaking to The Scottish Mail on Sunday today [06/02 print edition, page 151], the Bhoys boss said: “I want to do what I’ve always done in my career and that’s create a football team that people talk about. Within that, you have to have success. There’s no point in painting a nice picture if no one likes it — or you can’t sell it.
“It’s about creating a team here that everyone talks about. It’s never-ending, there’s always another layer to it. I want people talking about Celtic — not just in Scotland but beyond this country.
“We have to win trophies and be successful within that context. But my drive every day is to create a team people talk about in a positive way due to the football we play.”
Celtic will get the chance to impress on the continent again soon. A Bodo/Glimt tie in the UEFA Europa Conference League is just around the corner.
If we can best the Norwegian champions, the hype about Postecoglou’s team and brand of football will only increase. Then there’s the opportunity of games against bigger teams later in the competition.
Of course, if we win the league, then Postecoglou will get the ultimate chance to impress in the Champions League. There’s a long way to go until that, but the Celtic boss clearly has one eye on a brilliant future at the Bhoys.
