Celtic have a knack for being able to recruit prodigious talent with the aim of eventually selling them on for financial profit down the line.

Midfielder Odin Thiago Holm will likely fall into that category eventually following his £2.5 million move from Valerenga last summer.

His old club hold a 15% sell-on clause in the case of any future transfer. Since his arrival, the Norway Under-21 international has been a bit-part player under Brendan Rodgers, making 12 appearances across all competitions, yielding one goal and a solitary assist [Transfermarkt].

Irishman Rodgers has already talked up his level of talent and the potential impact he could have at Celtic in years to come, stating back in November: “He’s got all the attributes in terms of being a top player. He needs to get physically stronger in terms of his upper body. But he can travel with the ball, he can see a pass and then he can make the pass.”

Last weekend, the Trondheim-born playmaker gave a glimpse of what he could offer in the Hoops long term, slotting home his first strike for the club after playing a one-two with Matt O’Riley in the 5-0 rout of Buckie Thistle in the Scottish Cup.

Odin Thiago Holm says he looks up to Celtic star Matt O’Riley

Without a doubt, O’Riley is a shining example of a Scandinavian talent who is thriving in a Celtic jersey, given that his performances have recently attracted high-profile interest from La Liga giants Atletico Madrid.

In a recent interview, Holm indicated that he looks up to the Denmark international and tries to learn from his professionalism shown in matches, training and everything in between.

The 21-year-old spoke glowingly about his teammate, stating: [Daily Record]: “Matt plays in the same position as me, so I try to learn from him. I could not have a better role model. He’s doing everything right and he’s a top professional on and off the pitch.”

“I try to watch what he does and learn from him. I watch how he plays, how he recovers and the work he does in the gym. That has helped me. Matt inspires me because he came here from a smaller club and has achieved so much already at Celtic.”

He later added: “If you’re doing well at Celtic, opportunities open up for you. Matt has done that with Denmark, and hopefully, if I’m playing games at Celtic, I can get a place in my national team as well.”

Celtic can be the perfect platform for Odin Thiago Holm

Celtic has been the making of so many talented young players down the years, who have come to the club and developed before moving on to earn the Hoops significant profit.

Nevertheless, Rodgers will be keen to keep hold of key men for as long as possible, which looks to be the case with O’Riley after he revealed he will stay at Parkhead for the remainder of the campaign despite advances from elsewhere [Sky Sports].

On the topic of Holm, there may be more chances for him to stake his claim for first-team minutes at the Scottish champions due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding David Turnbull, who has been tipped to leave this window.

As per Sofascore, the Norwegian has created two big chances in the Scottish Premiership in spite of his limited involvement on league duty.

Hopefully, chances will continue to open up for Holm to make a lasting impact at Celtic as he seeks to perfect his game in green and white.
