Odin Thiago Holm’s ‘primary goal’ when he returns to Celtic

The young midfielder made just 16 appearances for Celtic before being shipped out on loan and here, the 22-year-old shares what his first priority will be when he returns to Parkhead.

Holm told The Scottish Sun, “The plan is to return to Scotland after the MLS season in the United States is over, no later than December.

“I have a strong desire to make it happen at Celtic.

“But the primary goal now is to get my body in order.

“As of now, I am not experiencing any symptoms during exercises that I have previously experienced symptoms with.

“That’s a very good sign, but I still need some time before the side effects of the injections wear off.”

The mystery illness that threatens Celtic midfielder Odin Thiago Holm’s career

Holm has been diagnosed with a condition called Chronic Extortional Compartment Syndrome (CECS) and Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome (PAES).

The Celtic star described the sensation as feeling ‘half-paralysed’ during games, explaining that when he runs, his calf muscles expand to the point where they compress his nerves and blood vessels, cutting off circulation.

Holm currently receives botox injections to help counteract the condition’s symptoms and from what he is saying, it looks like he could be making a full recovery.

Fingers crossed his recovery goes well and he gets back to full fitness and shows Celtic fans what he is all about after arriving at the club as one of the hottest properties of Norwegian football.

Holm is contracted to 2028.
