Reported target, Odin Thiago Holm looks like he is one step closer to becoming a Celtic player today according to Stian André de Wahl.
The Norwegian journalist was one of the first to break the news of Celtic’s interest in the 20-year-old midfielder and this morning, de Wahl tweeted an update that will excite the Hoops support.
de Wahl said, “Medical test for Odin Thiago Holm today. It is conducted in London for practical reasons. He will be sold from Vålerenga to Celtic if he passes the test.”
Celtic’s interest in Holm was first reported by de Wahl back on the 12th of June. It was said that the club would have to offer at least £2m to secure his services. [Nettavisen]
67 Hail Hail told last week how the club had agreed on a fee of around £2.6m with Valerenga and how the youngster was likened to Arsenal’s Martin Odegaard by former Celtic striker, Harald Brattbakk.
Holm is said to be one of Norway’s brightest prospects. The talented midfielder has made 76 appearances for Valerenga, scoring 6 goals and creating four assists.

Interestingly, Holm was included in The Guardian’s Next Generation 2020 where he was listed as one of the best top 60 talents in world football. [The Guardian]
Young Holm has also been capped at every international level by Norway from u15 right through to the u20’s.
Celtic have had recent success in shopping in the Norwegian market. As well as Harald Brattbakk, the club also brought on Kristoffer Ajer from an early age. Ajer became an important first-team player for Celtic before he went on and made his £13.5m move to Brentford in 2021. [The Sun]
So it seems that although Brendan Rodgers is just in the building, he has given the green light to make Odin Thaigo Holm the first signing of his second Celtic reign.
