The return of Brendan Rodgers to Celtic yesterday put an end to a fortnight of speculation on who would succeed Ange Postecoglou as the new manager.

In the run-up to the appointment, 67 Hail Hail told how, if he was hired, Rodgers would become the highest-paid manager in Celtic’s history and that the board would back him with significant transfer funds to make progress in Europe.

But just how much did Celtic offer Rodgers to tempt him to come to Glasgow for a second spell? And the transfer funds? What was promised to the Irishman to help him take Celtic forward?

According to a report in The Sun, both sums of cash were huge. Impressive, in fact. Rodgers is said to have agreed a salary ‘close to’ £3m per year on a three-year deal.

The report also says that the new Celtic manager has been handed an incredible transfer kitty of £30m to allow him to work towards his vision of continuing our domestic dominance and, more importantly, allow us to make progress in the Champions League.

Also, it seems that Rodgers was also promised investment to upgrade the current training facilities at Lennoxtown as part of the agreement to bring him to Glasgow.

It seems that Celtic have gone all out to capture Rodgers for a second term and this update is brilliant news for the fans.

With £30m available to spend, Rodgers could lay the foundations this season for another prolonged period of domestic dominance that will leave our rivals in our wake.

And if he can turn Parkhead into a European fortress again, Rodgers will go a long way to win over the fans who are still unsure about his appointment for a second term in Paradise.

It will be interesting to hear Rodgers’ vision. The club have yet to announce when his first press conference will be but it is sure to be one of the most watched in recent times.
