Celtic star Odsonne Edouard snapped on holiday with Boli Bolingoli and Jeremie Frimpong
Celtic star Odsonne Edouard has been snapped alongside Boli Bolingoli and Jeremie Frimpong.
Bolingoli, ever the prolific Instagram user, shared the pic of the former Celtic trio together earlier on. Odsonne Edouard is likely on extended leave following his travails with the France U21 squad. His Olympic status is as yet unknown, but it had previously appeared Eddy would be joining France in the Tokyo games.
For now though, he’s relaxing. Bolingoli, who has finished his loan stint with Istanbul Besaksehir, faces an uncertain future at Celtic. After his ill-advised sojourn to Spain [Herald], the club gave him the maximum fine and jetted him off to Turkey. There, he featured in the Champions League, but struggled with injuries.
Frimpong, as you’ll remember, very suddenly joined Bayer Leverkusen in January. The former Manchester City youth prospect netted the club £11.5m [BBC], a healthy profit on the £300,000 it took to lure the Dutch full-back to Paradise.
If you’re wondering, “never two without three” is an old French proverb [Idiomation]. It means that something which has happened twice is likely to happen a third time. So perhaps it’s a suggestion that, like Bolingoli (temporarily) and Frimpong, Edouard will leave Celtic.
Or, it’s just because there’s three of them. It’s a photo of three people. Being honest, it’s more likely that.
Celtic star Odsonne Edouard taking some time out between international stints?
The latest on Edouard and the Olympics, as we understand it, is that Celtic have the right to refuse his participation in the Olympics. That’s due to Olympic football not being recognised by FIFA. It creates a tricky set of scenarios; if Edouard wants to go to the Olympics, and leave Celtic, then the club can’t really do much about that.
If, instead, Edouard can be convinced to take part in Celtic’s Champions League qualifiers against FC Midtjylland, then it suggests there might be a future for him in Glasgow.
Either way, it’s a confusing set of circumstances. Whatever the case, it’s great to see the camaraderie between 3 treble winners. We can only guess, on their best form, what the trio will be worth in years to come.
Whether we see Bolingoli or Edouard reaching the highest levels of their game at Celtic is yet to be seen. But for now, it’s a nice sight for Celtic supporters, at the very least.
