Olivier Giroud has labelled Scott Brown as “Scotland’s hardest midfielder”.

The Celtic legend will link up with the World Cup-winning striker on the BBC’s punditry team for this summer’s tournament in North America.

Also involved will be Hoops goalkeeping hero Joe Hart, whilst ex-Parkhead boss Ange Postecoglou will be covering the tournament for ITV.

Brown was participating in a promotional video for the tournament along with Giroud.

In it, Giroud’s line for Brown is that he is “Scotland’s hardest midfielder”, something that few can credibly dispute.

Brown then says “I’m passing the phone to a manager who looks like he could teach economics and beat the top six”, that manager is Thomas Frank.

The Parkhead legend will work on Scotland’s games at their first World Cup since 1998. They will face Haiti, Morocco, and Brazil in Group C.

He was handed 55 Scotland caps during his career, being named captain by Gordon Strachan in 2013. However, he never appeared at a major tournament.

He was recently linked with Robbie Keane in a potential dugout team for Celtic next season, but insisted that his trip to Budapest was for coaching education purposes.

He explained on the Not Another Football Podcast: “I was over about two months ago.

“I texted Robbie saying, ‘What’s the chances of me popping over?’, because you have to do a broad experience to go and see the culture and stuff like that at a different club.

“Obviously, everyone’s then trying to put two and two together. [Keane] has done a fantastic job. I played with Glassy at Hibs.

“It was a good experience. Good to see how Robbie and Glassy worked as well.”
