In all the chat about the potential returns of Odsonne Edouard, Mohamed Elyounoussi and Boli Bolingoli, it is possible that news on Olivier Ntcham has gone under the radar.
The French midfielder missed the weekend win over Ross County through injury, just days after putting in a terrific performance in the win over Rennes. We didn’t exactly miss the mercurial man’s talents on the day but it would still be great if he was back as soon as possible.
And that date may be tomorrow as Lennon confirmed some more positive injury news for the Celtic support.
Ntcham could be our joker from the bench on Sunday
“Ntcham has a good chance of starting (against Hamilton),” Lennon said, as reported by the Daily Record.
It was short an sweet, as things often are with Lennon, but the news couldn’t be much better with Sunday’s Betfred Cup final against Rangers on the horizon.
The Frenchman is probably unlikely to start said game given the importance of Callum McGregor, Scott Brown and Ryan Christie in the central area. However, that doesn’t mean that Ntcham can’t affect the fixture from the bench. He has experience of doing that before, after all.
The former Genoa man only played 25 minutes of our win at Ibrox earlier this season, but he had a key say in the game, sending Jonny Hayes clear for his second goal clincher.
The latter stages of Sunday’s game could have a similar feeling to them and Ntcham could excel once again. Having a player of his quality on the bench can only be seen as a huge benefit for us on what could turn out to be a long afternoon.
Ntcham could once again be a key man on the biggest of stages.
