Luis Palma has been something of an enigma at Celtic since joining the club in the summer of 2023.
After enjoying a purple patch of form in the early days of his Celtic career, Luis Palma quickly found life tough at Parkhead after slipping down Brendan Rodgers’ pecking order.
The on-loan Celtic winger was shipped to Olympiacos where he helped the club win their first league title since 2022.
However, it appears that the Greek champions have now made a final decision on Palma as the Greek champions’ feelings on the loan-to-buy clause emerges.

Olympiacos have ‘difficulty’ in triggering Celtic’s release clause for Luis Palma
According to news outlet Newsit, the Greek champions will not be taking their interest in Palma any further.
Olympiacos are preparing to make moves to strengthen their side for next season’s Champions League qualification campaign and do not see the Celtic winger as part of their plans.
On top of that, they are also not willing to meet the release clause of €4m [£3.38m] that Celtic inserted into the loan deal should Olympiacos want to make Palma’s loan move permanent.
The report claims that Olympiacos ‘will have difficulty’ in activating the loan clause which suggests that the price may well be too rich to justify buying the Celtic attacker.
How Celtic winger Luis Palma has fared at Olympiacos
Palma has had a difficult couple of seasons at Celtic since his form dropped off in December 2023. The club would have hoped that a loan move may have sparked the winger back into life.
However, after five months in Greece, how has Palma fared at Olympiacos now that a Celtic return is expected?
- Appearances: 11
- Starts: 5
- Left on bench: 3
- Goals: 1
- Assists: 1
- Average rating [Fotmob]: 6.49
Does Palma have a future at Celtic? It looks unlikely but with three years left on his current deal, Rodgers will need to make a decision of his own on the Honduran winger.
