Celtic will face a new-look side in the Europa League after they sacked their manager despite an incredible run of form.

The Hoops learned who they will play in the Europa League after the draw was made this week.

It seems that Celtic fans are happy with the draw and Brendan Rodgers will also be quietly confident that they can go far in the tournament.

While it’s a given that Rodgers will be Celtic manager for the tournament, one of their opponents will have a new face in the dugout.

FC Midtjylland sack manager despite unbeaten run

Danish outfit FC Midtjylland will have a new man at the helm after they made the decision to sack Thomas Thomasberg.

Sacking a manager usually implies that they have been on a bad run of form, but in Thomasberg’s case, he has been given the chop off the back of a 17-game unbeaten run.

To add further confusion, Midtjylland have told him to remain in charge for their game against Brondby on Sunday, even though they have already found his replacement.

Former Hearts player Mike Tullberg has been chosen to take over and he will be in the dugout against Celtic.

Have Celtic played  FC Midtjylland before?

Celtic and Midtjylland have gone head-to-head before, with unhappy memories for the Bhoys.

Their only previous meetings have come in a Champions League qualifier where the Hoops crashed out in a 3-2 defeat on aggregate.

After drawing the first leg at Celtic Park, the Danish side came out on top with a 2-1 win on the night in extra-time.
