"Out of touch"; Sky Sports presenter's tweet disappoints Celtic supporters

Sky Sports presenter Eilidh Barbour has disappointed Celtic supporters with a tweet that suggests Kris Boyd will be back covering their games from tonight.

The Hoops are live on Sky as they take the trip to the Highlands to face Ross County in Dingwall. The coverage will begin at 7pm on Sky Sports Football and 7:30pm on Sky Sports Main Event.

Celtic fans enjoyed some of the latest Sky broadcasts of their games without Boyd on their screens. Instead, the supporters have enjoyed having the likes of John Collins and Shaun Maloney giving their analysis in Boyd’s place in recent weeks. Boyd has been absent for Celtic’s last two Sky Sports clashes at St Mirren and St Johnstone respectively.

But it looks as though he’s going to be back this evening. Sky presenter Barbour released a tweet earlier today that contained a photo of herself and the former Rangers striker at a previous Sky event. She stated in the tweet: “Have a lovely Sunday and we’ll see you later”.

Celtic fans have been growing increasingly frustrated with Boyd’s snide digs at the Hoops throughout the season. The former Rangers and Kilmarnock striker has glorified in Celtic’s collapse this season.

Sky Sports coverage is frustrating Celtic supporters

Whilst you can understand why he’s having the time of his life this season, it’s not pleasurable viewing for us. The Celtic-supporting audience, which will make up the vast majority of Sky viewers tonight, wants to see a more analytical eye from someone not just looking to have a pop at the club whenever they can.

Boyd has been a regular on Sky’s coverage of Celtic matches over the last couple of years. In the past, he’s also had run-ins with Celtic players for the way he’s conducted himself during live broadcasts [Daily Record].

It just feels, from a supporter’s perspective, that salt is being rubbed into our wounds by Boyd appearing on our games. You can understand his inclusion on games involving Rangers or Kilmarnock. However, it’s clear he likes to antagonise whenever he can if it’s Celtic he’s watching.

Considering the supposed Celtic-minded pundit is supposed to be Andy Walker….yeah, you get the picture.

Regardless, it looks like we’ll have to power through with Boyd once again tonight. Here’s hoping the Hoops can clinch another three points to ensure there’ll be no post-match gloating. Even so, it’s clear supporters are hardly enthused with the prospect of the pundit coming back tonight:
