Young Celtic attackers Owen Moffat and Joey Dawson may have just been called up to the Bhoys first-team ahead of this weekend’s match against Motherwell.
With players such as Kyogo Furuhashi, Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis all picking up injuries, Ange Postecoglou is stretched thin at the top end of the park.
Reliable Celtic B journalist and fan Lewis Laird shared the news on Twitter earlier tonight as fans wondered why neither Moffat or Dawson were named in Tommy McIntyre’s squad against East Stirlingshire.
Laird attends almost every Celtic B match and regularly updates from their travels in the Scottish Lowland Football League.
Of course, this doesn’t mean that either Moffat or Dawson will feature in the match squad on Sunday, much less start. However, it does demonstrate that Postecoglou is at least putting in place contingency plans for the absence of Kyogo and others.
Postecoglou will have other options to consider beyond this pair with Liel Abada and Mikey Johnston both contenders to fill in for Kyogo through the middle.

Dawson is more of a traditional striker than Moffat, who has often played out wide for Celtic B this season, albeit banging in a regular number of goals.
It’s not ideal to have to call upon youth players at such a crucial stage of the season. However, as Postecoglou has preached, even those on the fringes of the Celtic squad have to be ready for their big chances.
Good luck to both of them and Celtic this weekend as the manager gets ready to put together his match squad.
