Pat Bonner says he’s noticed what Brendan Rodgers has done to improve Nicolas Kuhn at Celtic

The form of Nicolas Kuhn since joining Celtic has probably been one of the biggest talking points of the season.

Since joining from Rapid Vienna in a £3m move, the German winger has suffered from some rollercoaster form.

Obviously, Kuhn’s now well-publicised health issues have been a major factor in that form but even so, Kuhn still managed to score on his debut in the 1-1 Pittodrie draw in February.

But it was in that game that Pat Bonner shared what he noticed about Brendan Rodgers doing with Kuhn that has helped him improve as a player this season.

Stephen Welsh shared recently how Kuhn has been impressive in training and it seems now that he is talking that training form onto the pitch.

And it seems that Rodgers’ work that Bonner noticed is now paying off for Celtic.

Bonner said [BBC Radio Scotland], “I remember up at Aberdeen actually he was in the team and he has this habit of coming back out all the time and when he got the ball and played almost a safe ball.

“And I saw Brendan Rodgers out giving him sort of almost encouragement maybe to go forward. And I think they have been working on that with him for over the last and he’s now doing that very consistently and little bit of pace he has too.”

That’s three goals and two assists so far this season for Kuhn and although his performance tailed off in the second half yesterday, he did do well in the first 45 minutes against Aberdeen.

He looked lively, direct and not afraid to take his man on and, hopefully, he will continue that form heading into the final six fixtures of the season to help bring home a league and cup double to Celtic.
