Celtic’s win over Rangers was the biggest Glasgow Derby of the season.

With the Scottish Premiership title at stake and a place in the lucrative Champions League group stages, the pressure was on for both teams to get a positive result.

With so much riding on the result, you could forgive the Celtic players for celebrating the win at full-time because, with just two games left of the season, a victory over Rangers pretty much seals the title.

And it was exactly what Brendan Rodgers’ side did at full-time that really impressed Peter Grant.

Grant hails Celtic ‘mentality’ after beating Rangers

Many of you will remember how Philippe Clement and his players celebrated their 3-3 draw at Ibrox after the Rangers manager claimed a ‘moral victory’.

It really was a bizarre statement and action to make considering that they had the opportunity to stretch their lead at the top of the table if they had beaten Celtic at Ibrox.

They failed but still celebrated as if they had won the league. And now that Celtic are almost champions again, it was the fact that Rodgers and his team didn’t celebrate that really impressed Grant.

Grant said [BBC Sportsound], “The thing that impressed me more after the game was the fact that they never celebrated it.

“They know everybody else has written them off, but this is probably the mentality this group has got.

“And that’s what I’ve said before about it. He’s got a different mentality because he knows he’s probably told the players, ‘Even if we win, we do not celebrate.’

“All these wee small things are so, so important to make sure you get over that line.”

Six points ahead and two games left make Celtic all but in-name champions.

A point against Kilmarnock will seal the third title in a row and then and only then, will the players and the manager celebrate another famous title win.
