Celtic are no longer the favourites to sign Steven Fletcher – according to a tweet from Peter Martin.
The renowned Scottish broadcaster, part of the PLZ Soccer team, posted the update about the Hoops target just before noon on Thursday.
And the news doesn’t look good from a Celtic point of view as Martin revealed that the Hoops are no longer the front runners to seal a deal for the 33-year-old.
Martin kept it short and sweet, saying: “Stoke now favourites for Fletcher”.
Stoke now favourites for Fletcher

Earlier, the BBC reported that we had offered the Scotland international a one-year contract, with the option of a further year.
Fletcher is without a club after leaving Sheffield Wednesday at the end of June, and a move to Celtic certainly looked on.
However, the BBC also said that no agreement had been met between the player and club, and Martin’s revelation now backs that up.
Some Celtic fans aren’t massively convinced on Fletcher
It will be interesting to see how our move for Fletcher materialises in the coming days.
We could certainly do with some extra firepower up top, and Fletcher’s recent scoring record suggests he could provide that.
However, not all Celtic fans have been massively convinced by the club’s pursuit of the former Hibernian and Wolves man.
They may prefer us to go after a younger option, like Ivan Toney, who could step into Odsonne Edouard’s boots when the Frenchman eventually moves on.
We’ll see how this one pans out.
It’s never dull when it comes to Celtic and transfers.
