Ticket sales for Celtic Park beam backs of the upcoming derby between Celtic and Rangers have been strong, to the extent that the club are now opening up extra suites to attend at the stadium.

The Kerrydale Bar is now sold out for the September 3rd lunchtime kick-off after what the club say has been “phenomenal demand” for spaces.

The North Stand Lounges and the Sports Bar are now being opened for spillover in demand, with tickets on sale for £15 each. Tickets include a hot bakery at half-time and access to a cashless bar, alongside live coverage of the game itself.

It could be the most viable way for fans to watch with fellow supporters given that there will be no away supporters in attendance at Ibrox for the derby.

Rangers have offered tickets but Celtic refuse to take up a paltry token amount while there are safety and matchday experience considerations which such a small allocation. The Bhoys want a return towards thousands of fans attending at both Ibrox and Celtic Park for the derby.

There’s been no publicly divulged progress on talks behind the scenes, so an entirely partisan crowd is expected for Brendan Rodgers’ first derby of his second era at the Bhoys.

It’s the first chance for Rodgers’ side to lay down a real marker this season. The Bhoys suffered defeat at Ibrox in the final league derby of last term, but nothing was really on the line for that fixture.

Callum McGregor and his squad will be determined to show what they can do at Ibrox in a game that actually matters.

Hopefully Celtic supporters everywhere – at Celtic Park, at home, in pubs and around the world – have a joyous time watching on from television!
