Ange Postecoglou’s recruitment at Celtic was first-class.
The iconic Hoops boss brought the likes of Kyogo Furuhashi, Reo Hatate, Jota, Daizen Maeda and Matt O’Riley to Celtic as he wrestled the power of Scottish football back from Rangers in his first season at the club.
The following season, Ange Postecoglou brought Alistair Johnston, Aaron Mooy and captured the permanent signing of Cameron Carter-Vickers as the former Celtic boss went on to win a treble.
The point is, the Australian knew a player when he saw one and many of his signings have banked Celtic fortunes in transfer fees.
And now, there was one player Postecoglou was keen to bring to Celtic back in 2023 who is now set for a stunning €40m (£34.7m) transfer to AC Milan.

Ex-Celtic target Ardon Jashari set for €40m move to AC Milan
Celtic wanted Ardon Jashari back in May 2023 when he was at FC Luzern. However, Club Brugge signed the defensive midfielder for just over £5m in April 2024.
Ironically, Jashari faced Celtic last season in the Hoops’ draw with Club Brugge in the Champions League at Parkhead.
And now, Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the Swiss international is now set for a stunning move to AC Milan which will net Brugge a huge £29m profit.
Taking to X, Romano said, “BREAKING: Ardon Jashari to AC Milan, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.
“Club Brugge accept last bid from AC Milan for €36.5 plus €3.5m, agent will reduce his commission. Jashari will sign five year deal. He ONLY wanted Milan.”
What Ardon Jashari once said about Celtic speculation
Jashari won the Belgian Cup with Brugge last season which is his only piece of silverware. But had he moved to Celtic, the Swiss midfielder would be a two-time double winner.
Commenting on his future at the time, Jashari said, ““Right now I play for FC Luzern. Then I am going on a short holiday until the Euros with the Under 21s. Then we will see what happens after that.
“To move abroad is not so easy and I don’t want to commit myself to one particular country at the moment. What I would say is if the project is right, then the league is not relevant.”
With Jashari’s big move now set to be completed, could this be counted as one who got away from Celtic?
