Popular Celtic fan chant returns to where it all started tomorrow

One of the very best current Celtic fan chants makes its return to Pittodrie, where it all started, tomorrow.

When Ange Postecoglou’s all conquering Celts last ventured to Aberdeen’s ground, the popular ‘Top of the League’ tune made it’s debut.

Sang to The Carpenters ‘Top of the World’, you’ll likely know the lyrics are:

We’re on the top of the league, looking down on the Rangers, it’s the only explanation I can find

It’s the form we have found, since Ange has been around, that has put us at the top of the league

Since that 3-2 Pittodrie win the best part of a year ago, Celtic have been sitting proudly on top of the league.

We went the rest of the 2021/22 campaign undefeated, winning the title with a game to spare.

But the chant has proved even more fitting this season.

Celtic have finished each of the 15 Premiership match weeks so far as the league’s leading team.

From the opening victory over Aberdeen till now, we have been looking down on Rangers and the rest.

If we continue on the same path to the title, that may be some kind of record.

For now, it’s all about Pittodrie tomorrow and three more points. And maybe, after a month of no football, our fanbase will have come up with another belting chant.

In other news, 35 long days later, it all starts again for Celtic tomorrow
