Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
Yes, the Eddie Howe to Celtic chat rumbles on.
His agent may have suggested it was premature to say he was close to joining Celtic last night but media outlets in Scotland continue to be bullish about the chances of an agreement being reached.
The Go Radio Football Show‘s presenter Paul Cooney certainly provided a promising on-air update.
He still thinks the deal is done, telling the programme earlier: “The word is though, close to him, that it looks as though he’s coming. It’s about when. He knew Crystal Palace would come up, probably.
“Newcastle may come up, others may come up and if it’s an absolutely massive one then maybe he won’t but the word is the deal is done, and he’s going to come.”
At this point, it’s entirely fair if you’re tired of the entire Howe saga. Nobody likes things to drag on for days with an uncertain ending.
The reality is that this is how appointments work, unfortunately. Until we hear otherwise, we’re operating in something of an information vacuum. None of us are Celtic insiders.
However, Cooney’s comments tonight do reinforce that the reporting on all of this has barely changed in a week.
Yes, Howe’s agent was assertive in saying nothing is imminent, but journalists aren’t changing their tact on it all.
Many outlets still appear to be operating on the assumption this is happening after positive talks between Howe, Dermot Desmond and Dominic McKay in London last week.
We’ve tried to offer plenty of writing and content on 67 Hail Hail today (website and YouTube) that isn’t Eddie Howe related – because we get it – but the truth is it’s impossible to ignore and there is still a genuine thirst for these snippets.
So, bear with us and we’ll get through it together!
