This season’s Scottish Premiership title run-in is going to be the closest one that’s been competed for between Celtic and Rangers in a long time.

With just one point in it and Rangers with a game in hand, goal difference looks like it could be a key factor in determining whether Celtic successfully defend their title this season.

Brendan Rodgers has had a horrendous season trying to keep this Celtic team in the hunt for the title due to having important players missing through injury.

Cameron Carter-Vickers and Reo Hatate have been missing for much of Rodgers’ return this season and Callum McGregor is also now on the treatment table.

Couple that with Greg Taylor having a spell out and Luis Palma also now injured, Rodgers has had to face every fixture this season without a full-strength squad.

But all that seems like it is about to change and that is why Gordon Dalziel reckons the Rangers fans are glancing over at Paradise feeling worried at this moment in time.

Celtic’s resolving injury problems will worry Rangers fans

Celtic already have Carter-Vickers back in the first-team as well as Greg Taylor but it’s the potential return of other key players that Dalziel reckons is worrying the Ibrox support.

Dalziel said [Superscoreboard], “Do you think there’s a little bit added in the fact that if you’re a Rangers supporter you’re looking at all those injuries to their top players then you’re looking over across the city and their top players are starting to come back.

“McGregor is on his way back. Carter-Vickers is back. Hatate played 45 minutes against St Mirren the other night there.

“So they’re getting their very important players back for the run in and Rangers are losing a lot of their important players.”

And it’s not only the returning injured players that should worry the Rangers fans. Kyogo Furuhashi is now bang on form and we now have an able back-up striker in Adam Idah.

Matt O’Riley is also looking like his old self and Joe Hart has been superb so far this season. It’s all clicking just at the right time for Celtic and Rodgers must be confident heading into the final games of the season.

It’s little wonder Dalziel believes the Rangers fans are worried.
