Celtic have ended the Scottish Premiership weekend eight points clear of Rangers after the Ibrox club failed to win away to Aberdeen at Pittodrie on Sunday.
Many had assumed the gap would be cut to six today after Brendan Rodgers’ side only managed a 1-1 draw at home to Motherwell on Saturday.
However, Rangers dropped their own points in Aberdeen and now sit eight behind with just a single game in hand.
Bojan Miovski was the scorer for Aberdeen with a super finish past Jack Butland after 11 minutes before James Tavernier struck from a stoppage-time penalty for a 1-1 result.
There was significant pressure on the Dons throughout the 90 minutes from Philippe Clement’s side but the home team managed to secure a point, which is a bonus for Celtic.
Celtic unpunished after poor Saturday display
Celtic’s performance against Motherwell wasn’t up to par. It was a dull 90 minutes at Celtic Park with little creativity on display.
The Bhoys did fashion two penalties and should have won the fixture, but Rodgers’ side failed to take their chances.

That they aren’t closer to their nearest title rivals despite this is a significant boost and shows that every point in the league can matter and is hard-earned.
Celtic now have eight matches left in the league before the winter break in January, including a derby against Rangers. It’s a massive period and the Bhoys must show improvement.
Thankfully, the champions have been unpunished on this particular weekend. The Bhoys must ensure other team’s results aren’t a factor over the next six weeks.
