Rennes fans vent at Jota to Celtic announcement, they only have one thing to tell their ‘club of clowns’

Rennes have announced the departure of Jota to Celtic in a post on social media this afternoon.

Jota returns to Celtic in a deal worth just over £6m as the Portuguese winger looks to kickstart a career that nosedived when he left Celtic Park in the summer of 2023.

Kyogo Furuhashi also left the Bhoys to join Rennes in a separate deal that saw the Japanese international look to leave Celtic to rejuvenate his Japan career.

All in all, the double deal suits all parties concerned and everyone is happy, right? Wrong. Because it seems that the news of Jota’s departure to Celtic has only gone down well with one set of supporters.

Celtic fans respond to Rennes’ Jota announcement with Kyogo message

As always, Celtic fans were first in line to react to the Rennes announcement and it was no surprise that they had a message to the French club about Kyogo.

Another Celtic fan said, “Thanks, and look after Kyogo.” whilst another replied, “Enjoy kyogo. We’ll love having Jota back.”

Those sentiments continued as one fan said, “Cheers for that one lads!” and one Celtic supporter had a cheeky request for the Ligue 1 club, “Send Kyogo back. The plan worked perfectly. Merci.”

Well, it seems that plan has not worked out since Kyogo has now left Celtic for Rennes earlier this afternoon.

Why Rennes fans are disgusted with sale of Jota to Celtic

Over to the Rennes fans and it seems that they are seriously unhappy with their club as many fans vented on the club’s social media thread.

One fan said, “You’ve messed up the club. Leaders, it’s up to you to save the current mess.” and another put, “We don’t even give players/fans a year anymore. Impatience at all levels. Was he a good player? We don’t know.”

One fan was raging:

Translated: “Shameful to send him back like that, the transfer window was horrible. You have no control over the club and no respect for the fans and players.”

Another Rennes fan replied, “Hoping it shines quickly over there so we don’t pass for a club of clowns again!” and another replied, “It’s so stupid, it shows once again the disastrous transfer market of this summer.”

Jota could make his Celtic debut this weekend in the away trip to Motherwell.
