Celtic began life without Kyogo Furuhashi at Villa Park on Wednesday night in the Champions League.

Adam Idah netted a brace in Celtic’s 4-2 defeat to Aston Villa and prove to fans that he is worthy of stepping up and making that striker spot his own.

Many were left surprised by Kyogo’s call to, not just leave, but also the timing of his departure and join a side that is sitting in the bottom half of the French league.

Kyogo had it all at Celtic, playing for the champions of Scotland, starting week in and week out, adored by the fans, still producing big moments and playing in the Champions League.

That’s why many, not just of a Celtic persuasion, were surprised to see the 30-year-old head for the exit door in such an abrupt manner, even though there were weeks and weeks of speculation about his future.

But just as Kyogo enters the building, meets his new teammates, and trains with them, but is yet to kick a competitive ball.

It seems as though there is about to be a change at the top!

Rennes to sack manager Jorge Sampaoli after Kyogo Furuhashi joins from Celtic

Even though Rennes, who still have to secure their safety in Ligue 1, have splashed the cash and backed their manager, Jorge Sampaoli.

They have decided to part ways with the 64-year-old, as posted by Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, and that call will be made ‘official soon’.

Rennes are 16th in the Ligue 1 table, one place above the drop zone and they were beaten 3-2 by Monaco at the weekend.

‘Rennes have decided to sack the manager Jorge Sampaoli, it’s over. The decision is confirmed and will be made official soon, as L’Équipé reported,’ wrote Romano.

‘Glen Kamara and Mika Faye among players in talks for exit now waiting to understand what happens with Rennes coach’.

Kyogo joins Jota and Kieran Tierney’s sacking party after leaving Celtic

You do wonder how Kyogo is feeling right now because, if the man who brought him in is out of the door in such a brutal manner, then the next man in might not take a liking to him.

But this isn’t the first time a high-profile player has left Celtic and, not long after, the manager was sacked.

Ironically enough, when Jota left Celtic for the Saudi Pro League, Al-Ittihad sacked their manager, Nuno Espirito Santo, four months later.

There is talk of Kieran Tierney returning to Celtic, but when he first left for Arsenal in 2019, the man who signed him was Unai Emery, but he was sacked months later as well.
