Reo Hatate has confirmed that he will be able to make his Celtic debut against Hibernian on Monday night at Parkhead.

The new signing from J-League champions Kawasaki Frontale looks like adding something fresh to the Celtic midfield immediately.

Hatate has just come off a gruelling J-League campaign along with fellow new signings Daizen Maeda and Yosuke Ideguchi respectively. However, despite that, there doesn’t appear to be any signs of fatigue or of the player needing some rest.

Instead, he has his eyes fixated on the game against Hibs at Parkhead next week – a contest that should mark the return of a full house in Glasgow’s East End.

As quoted by The Herald, Hatate said: “I have had quite a short break since the end of the last season, but that doesn’t matter to me. In one week, we have a game at Celtic and there will be no excuses from me. I will prepare myself and be 100 per cent ready for the match.

“Let’s see what happens. I have to get into the team and play first and then try to do my best. Then we can see how it turns for me and how it goes with the football.”

Reo Hatate Celtic debut could come immediately

One of the advantages of signing the 3 J-League stars is that they should be fit and healthy to be tossed straight into action.

The only question mark would’ve been their fatigue levels. For example, would they even be ready to play against Hibs given they’ve not long finished their campaign and have had a tiring week.

Hatate has clearly given an emphatic answer here. He believes he’ll be absolutely fine to face off against Shaun Maloney’s side if given the chance. You would hope the same goes for Maeda and Ideguchi.

Of course there are no guarantees that any of the 3 men just waltz into the side. We would like to think there are other players at Parkhead that would have something to say about that.

It’s going to be exciting to see whether Ange throws any of them in out of nowhere. Whether he gives one or two an opportunity from the start. That will give Celtic supporters a key insight into how much he trusts his new Bhoys.

And Ange hasn’t been one for doing things in anyone’s way but his own. He’ll continue his exciting gung-ho approach, and that includes his team selections. Don’t be surprised if Hatate is one of the names thrown in for a debut next week.
