Celtic midfielder, Reo Hatate featured heavily for Japan in the international window and it is fair to says that the 25-year-old has impressed.

Hatate spoke during the window about how he is learning from the likes of Kaoru Mitoma and today, he has been reflecting on the last ten days as part of Hajime Moriyasu’s Samurai Blues.

And it seems the experience has given him some real drive and determination to be a part of Japan’s squads of the future.

Hatate said [Soccer Hihyo], “It’s the same when I’m not in the team, but when I’m given the opportunity to play, I want to contribute to the team’s victory, both on and off the pitch.

“That is why my desire to be selected for the national team has become stronger. I felt that even more strongly after being selected for the June series.”

Hatate reflected on the match against Peru, in which he only played in the first half. The Celtic midfielder said, “I think I could have spent a little more time on the ball.

“But I think I was able to think and play with an understanding of the situation on the pitch.”

As I wrote yesterday on 67 Hail Hail, Hatate along with Kyogo for that matter, has proven his worth to the Japanese national side.

Hajime Moriyasu will be left in no doubt that the Celtic midfielder is worthy of his place in future squads and must not be left out in the cold again.

The fact that he has integrated so seamlessly into the Samurai Blues is worth its weight in gold and, clearly, Hatate is determined to become a regular feature for Moriyasu.

But for now, the Celtic midfielder can rest and enjoy a couple of weeks of relaxation before the hard work begins again under Brendan Rodgers.
