Reo Hatate's message of Celtic improvement is ominous for Scottish football
Celtic midfielder Reo Hatate has insisted both he and his Bhoys team are set to improve even further in the coming weeks as new players adjust to life under Ange Postecoglou.
Hatate scored a screamer of a goal against Hearts on Wednesday night but also produced a supreme midfield performance – certainly for the first hour of the game.
He’s still working up to full match fitness after a lack of football following the end of the J-League in December.
Most importantly though, he’s still building up communication with his teammates and reckons this is the key to his own improvement as well as the team’s.
Speaking through an interpreter, Hatate told The Daily Record: “In terms of communication there are a lot of things to do. On the pitch, I can express myself in football, so I am okay. But, again, in communication, I would like to improve and have better communication.
“In terms of the game, we have times when we can keep ourselves, but there are times when we can’t keep our discipline.
“So we will have to talk and communicate to each other within the team, make it better and improve.
“I am not playing as just me, but I am also playing with all of my teammates. We will have to improve and communicate with each other to make it better.”
To be honest – and I know he’s only two games into his Celtic career – I already get the impression that Hatate is absolutely strolling Scottish football.
The fact he thinks he’s about to become an even more influential force on the pitch is quite a scary prospect for our opposition in the Scottish Premiership. Just how good is he going to be when he gets up to full speed?
A midfield trio of Callum McGregor, Reo Hatate and Tom Rogic is a glorious prospect and more than good enough to dominate every team in the country.
Watch out everyone – an even better version of Celtic is on the horizon.
