Report: Ange Postecoglou not interested in leaving Celtic as EPL links fill news vacuum
Ange Postecoglou is not currently interested in leaving Celtic despite outlets linking him with a move to Brighton & Hove Albion in recent days, The Telegraph has reported.
It’s been stated that Postecoglou is one of the names under consideration at Brighton after Graham Potter left to take charge of Chelsea. The Times even reported this weekend that he was a ‘strong contender’ for the post.
You can imagine, that in the vacuum of news following the postponement of football, this has created lots of associated speculation and headlines, with outlets eager to drum up a story even though a Postecoglou move is incredibly unlikely.
Through all the noise, The Telegraph reports that Postecoglou is not currently minded to consider a Celtic exit at this stage of his project in Glasgow. Instead, Brighton are turning to names such as Kjetil Knutsen and Roberto De Zerbi in the wake of Potter’s departure.
It’s not news you will surprised about, of course. The Australian has given zero indication he is anything other than laser-focused on the immediate challenges at Celtic, with five massive games in the Champions League ahead alongside the chance to defend the Scottish Premiership title.
While there’s always the chance that one day he leaves for a plum role in a richer league, it still seems miles off.
If anything, all the attention on Postecoglou shows what a brilliant job he has done, and continues to do, in Glasgow. He’s turned Celtic around and inspired a support that was desperate for a leader. It’s clear why other clubs would be envious of that and looking in.
Nobody should have any fears about the Bhoys boss heading for pastures new with so much on the table and so much to look forward to.
