With Ange Postecoglou on his way out of Celtic to become the new Tottenham Hotspur manager, the search is well underway for his replacement.

Earlier today, Sky Sports reported that Brendan Rodgers and Jesse Marsch were amongst the contenders for the Celtic Park position. But things move quickly in football and already we’ve been given a steer on Rodgers’ intentions.

The Scottish Sun have reported tonight that Rodgers is not interested in taking on the Celtic job at the moment, despite commenting in 2019 that he would one day welcome a return to Glasgow.

Brendan Rodgers next career step doesn’t look like being Celtic

The outlet has information that the former Leicester City boss will be taking time away from the game before considering his next step and that the timing is not right with regard to the Celtic post. It’s said to be ‘highly doubtful’ that he’ll be back in Scotland.

Celtic are likely looking at a wide field of candidates, with the club in a very strong position to recruit well in the coming days and weeks.

The Bhoys have guaranteed entry into the UEFA Champions League group stages and a lot of money to work with in the summer transfer window.

That, allied with a treble-winning squad full of assets and passionate supporters ready to back the new man, surely makes the job in Glasgow look very appealing to a lot of people.

So, while Rodgers may not want to take us back on, I’m sure a quality candidate will be on the cards. We simply have to wait for more news on the grapevine to figure out what Celtic’s intentions are.

In other news, Celtic told to look at Norwegian manager as Ange replacement before Ajax beat them to it.
