Celtic are considering Juventus employee Matteo Tognozzi as the club’s new Director of Football, Goal reports.
Celtic are set for a massive year of transition as Dominic McKay comes in as CEO and Peter Lawwell departs the club.
It’s thought that the Bhoys are looking to create a new role at the club to bring in some much-needed football knowledge behind the scenes.
Goal reports that one name in contention is Matteo Tognozzi, who currently works at Serie A giants Juventus.
He’s worked in scouting roles for clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Zenit and Hamburg.
At Juventus, he holds the roles of “Foreign Countries Scouting Supervisor” and “Scouting Manager”, per his public LinkedIn page.
Celtic have also been linked with a move for Manchester City employee Fergal Harkin in recent weeks.
The Scottish Sun reported he was the name being mentioned inside Celtic Park for the role.
The links are more obvious to Harkin. He works at a club Celtic have done plenty of business with in the past and will have a better knowledge of British football.
He also used to play with Neil Lennon at Leicester and work with Peter Lawwell’s son at City.

The Tognozzi links show, however, that Celtic may be casting the net further and wider than initially thought.
Hopefully, a full-blown and robust recruitment process is ongoing for this crucial appointment.
In other news, a former Celtic youngster has been named on a list of the top 50 youths in world football.
