Celtic are reportedly interested in signing Ferencvaros and Tunisia midfielder Aïssa Laidouni.

According to a report from French outlet Foot Mercato, the Hoops join clubs from England and Germany who are looking at the 25-year-old as an opinion this winter.

And Laidouni’s current club in Hungary are ready to let the midfielder go for a price of around €4 million.

Laidouni has previously played his football in France and Romania but currently turns out for Europa League side and Hungarian champions Ferencvaros.

The French-born midfielder has a history of playing against Celtic, having featured in both games between the two sides in last season’s Europa League group stages.

He was also on the bench for Ferencvaros as they produced a shock result at Celtic Park the season previous, in Champions League qualifying against Neil Lennon’s side.

However, Laidouni could soon exit his current club, with interest arriving after his strong showings at the World Cup in Qatar.

The Tunisian international started in all three of his country’s games, including against current Celtic man Aaron Mooy and Australia.

He also helped pull off one of the shock results of the tournament, as Tunisia defeated current world champions France in their final group game.

So, it comes as no surprise to see transfer interest arise, with Ferencvaros potentially looking to cash in on the midfielder after a few years at the club.

Celtic and German side Wolfsburg are the two teams mentioned by Foot Mercato, who reportedly hold an interest in Laidouni. Whilst several English clubs are also believed to be interested.

The report states that Laidouni would be available for a price tag in the region of €4 million, and Ange Postecoglou could look to add to his midfield options.

After the signing of Alistair Johnston ahead of the January transfer window and links to South Korean striker Cho Gue-sung, Laidouni isn’t the first performer out in Qatar the Hoops have been linked to.

With plenty of reported interest in the midfielder, the Bhoys could be set to battle it out for his signature if these reports from France come to fruition.

It remains to be seen how true these links are, but with the Celtic manager hinting that he and his recruitment team have a close eye on the action out in Qatar, it could be an option Postecoglou is looking towards.
