French side Nimes are close to signing Bristol City’s Niclas Eliasson, reports Swedish outlet Expressen.
The report goes on to say that the left-back has just about completed his move to the French side, and that they are ‘just details’ away from completing the deal. The reported fee is 25 million Swedish Krona, which comes to around a fee of £2.17m in British money.
If the deal comes to fruition, then it is another player that you can cross off the list of reported Celtic signing targets.
Hoops reportedly watched player in action
The Scottish Sun reported earlier this week that Celtic’s chief scout Gary Penrice watched Eliasson in action for Bristol City in their recent match against Aston Villa.

However, it looks like the Hoops may need to look to other left-back targets in the next few days. You would imagine that Charlton’s Alfie Doughty will be one of the players that the Hoops will be looking to sign. After all, Celtic have had bids for the player turned down.
Indeed, the Scottish Sun report on Eliasson claimed that he would only be an option for the Hoops if Doughty couldn’t be signed.
Pressure on for Hoops to sign left-back
However, the fact that Eliasson is close to a deal with Nimes, and Doughty still hasn’t been signed, puts a bit of pressure on Celtic to get a deal for a left-back done.

No doubt there will be plenty of speculation about Celtic signing targets over the next four days. The Hoops will no doubt be linked with a lot of players. Some of that will be fiction, some will be very true.
Only time will tell who does come in. You imagine that the Hoops will be looking to get signings done as soon as possible though. No last minute swoops required please.
However, it looks like Niclas Eliasson will not be one of the players helping the Hoops in the quest to win 10 in a row.
In other news, some Celtic fans praised Greg Taylor’s performance against Sarajevo.
