Celtic seem keen to add another winger if a recent report is anything to go by. The Daily Mail, a trusted outlet for Celtic news, reports that the club are looking to bring in the Bosnian-born winger Husein Balic this summer.

The 22-year-old impressed for Austria during this summer’s UEFA European Under-21 Championship and could move on a cut-price deal due to his contract being up at St. Polten next summer.

He is said to be rated at around £700,000 by the Austrian top-flight side.

Do Celtic really need Balic?

The thought of another winger coming in this summer seems a little bit needless. Celtic have immense depth in the two wing positions with the likes of James Forrest, Marian Shved and Mikey Johnston likely to get a lot of game time this coming season.

Added to that we have Jonny Hayes, Lewis Morgan and Scott Sinclair who all play predominately on the left. That means that Balic could be one of five left-wingers if he was to join.

We could probably afford to move on a couple of wingers if we want to sign the 22-year-old this summer. However, it’s difficult to see exactly who would go.

Sinclair is perhaps the most likely although he did recently sign a contract extension. Morgan is yet to be given a proper chance while Hayes has proven himself to be a valuable squad member.

It’s a tough one for Lennon who will not want to overcrowd a squad that has been restructured pretty well in recent weeks.
