Celtic are reportedly set to make another attempt to sign Rubin Kazan and Swedish winger Sead Haksabanovic.

The 23-year-old is on the lookout for a new club this summer with just a few weeks left in the window, having had a disruptive six months at his current side.

In March, Haksabanovic’s contract with Rubin Kazan was suspended by FIFA due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine earlier this year.

This led to the Montenegro internationalist spending the final few months of the 2022/23 campaign out on loan, playing for Swedish side Djurgardens IF.

Haksabanovic has since returned to Russia. However, it is clear to has no future at Rubin Kazan, and the man they signed for €6.5 million last summer is currently training alone.

Earlier in the transfer window, reports from Russian media outlets suggested that Kazan attempted to offload the winger to Celtic on a permanent basis.

However, that move broke down after the Hoops ‘abandoned’ the idea of signing the 28-time capped internationalist due to ‘difficulties in carrying out monetary transactions’.

Any move for Haksabanovic looked to be off the table for Ange Postecoglou’s side, with the Celtic manager expected to move on to other transfer targets.

However, according to reports in Sweden from Sportbladet, the Bhoys could be about to make another attempt to aquire the former West Ham youngster.

The report states that whilst the wingers ex-loan side Djurgården are hopeful of Haksabanovic making a return to the club, sources have suggested that Celtic could come back in for a second attempt to sign the attacker.

It also states that he is keen on a move to Glasgow and it is his current main attraction due to the opportuntiy to play Champions League football and win trophies.

Of course, it remains to be seen how truthful these reports from Sweden are. But, with Ange Postecoglou still keen on new additons to his forward line, it could be a potential move to keep an eye on.

Having abandonded the idea of signing the player earlier in the window, it will be intriging to see if Celtic do return and make a second attempt to sign the left-sided wide player.
