Report: Celtic remain steadfast after official Spurs approaches

Tottenham Hotspur have made official approaches to Celtic in an effort to reunite John Kennedy and Gavin Strachan with Ange Postecoglou, but the Bhoys have ‘cold-shouldered’ the English Premier League outfit.

Postecoglou was announced as the new Spurs boss on Tuesday and it’s widely reported he wants to bring some of the staff he inherited when he arrived in Glasgow.

However, The Daily Record reports that Celtic are unhappy with these intentions and have so far rebuffed the London club in their quest to discuss what’s needed for that to happen.

It’s said Postecoglou’s goal to bring in Kennedy and Strachan now ‘hangs in the balance’ and that he may be forced to pursue other coaching options.

Kennedy has been at the club in various capacities for 25 years and has been an integral part of the Lennoxtown set-up for quite a while.

Postecoglou spoke multiple times over the last two seasons about how important he’s been, so it’s little surprise the Australian wants to take him to London.

Strachan has been at the club for a shorter period of time but, like Kennedy, has been working closely with the first-team.

Ultimately it seems difficult to stand in either Kennedy’s or Strachan’s way. We don’t want an unhappy camp at the training centre. It seems more likely that Celtic are holding firm to better position themselves in any negotiations.

Any new manager coming into the club has a fair task on their hands to not only keep the squad on the course for more domestic domination, but also revamp the coaching staff.
