There are no imminent first-team transfer moves at Celtic this week as the club considers the future of some current squad members, Football Scotland reports.

Journalist Mark Hendry has been ahead of the curve on the Celtic transfer front this summer and appears to have some pretty decent sources when it comes to business that the Bhoys may or may not be doing.

One rumoured transfer that has done the rounds this week on Celtic message boards and social media concerns Manchester City player Claudio Gomes – a 22-year-old defensive midfielder who spent last season on loan at Barnsley.

Football Scotland says that his rumoured move is not on the cards, despite Celtic’s long-standing relationship with the City Group.

In fact, the outlet believes nothing is close at the moment, though the Bhoys have “one or two irons in the fire” when it comes to making squad additions.

The report states strengthening the striking department is still on the cards, but only if the club can shift Albian Ajeti, who has barely featured in pre-season.

Ange Postecoglou has made it publicly clear he expects some ins and outs before the end of the window, but the smart money should be on exits before any new faces turn up.

Players such as Ajeti and Christopher Jullien earn significant money at the Bhoys and aren’t currently getting the game time to justify it.

The manager’s entire focus this week will be on preparing the team for Aberdeen on Sunday, who visit in fine form, having made several impressive signings of their own.

With over a month still left to get business done, there’s no reason to rush into anything, with the club seemingly taking a breath and only moving if the right player comes along.
