Report: Eddie Howe meets Dom McKay and Dermot Desmond for Celtic talks in London; could be announced next week
Potential new Celtic manager Eddie Howe has met prominent shareholder Dermot Desmond and incoming CEO Dominic McKay for talks regarding the managerial vacancy.
The Scottish Sun reports the news this evening in the latest update from various media sources regarding Howe’s potential appointment.
The paper say that the trio has met in London for ‘hush-hush’ discussions and that he could be announced as the new permanent Celtic boss as early as next week.
He is the number one contender to succeed Neil Lennon.
We’ve been updating you all day with reports from different outlets including The Daily Record and Sky Sports as the former Bournemouth boss closes in on a return to management.
It seems that this is very much going to happen, or at least, Celtic have decided on who they want to progress negotiations with.
As always in football agreements, the final one hundred yards can be the hardest to close down, so let’s not emblazon our body with Howe tattoos quite yet.
There could be a long way to go and Howe will be treading very carefully. He hasn’t rushed into any other jobs over the last 12 months. He’ll be making sure whatever his next step is, is the right one for his career.
However, I do think it is time to officially get a bit excited that Celtic are on the verge of filling the manager hot seat, or at least make an announcement to that effect from the end of the season.
It could be a fantastic Easter weekend on the Celtic news front!
