Celtic-linked Martin Boyle has been offered a staggering £1m-per-year deal to join a Saudi Arabian club, the Scottish Sun reports.

The report states that the Australian winger is indeed on the Hoops’ radar. However, a mammoth contract is there for the former Dundee man if he wants it.

The Sun believes that Boyle is extremely keen to discuss terms with the interested party. It’s not stated which club from the Middle East is showing the interest.

However, the player is still contracted to Easter Road until the summer of 2024. The Sun reports that Hibs are only looking for offers of £3m and over.

Boyle has shot to form this season with 14 goals and 5 assists in 27 games [Transfermarkt]. That form has been enough for the speculation surrounding a move to Parkhead to kickstart again.

But it looks as though Celtic may have to move quickly to stop Boyle from heading off to the Middle East.

Martin Boyle to Celtic still seeming more and more unlikely

Boyle is going to have more than a few interested parties if a deal is there to be done. He’s finally found some consistency in his game, and that was always the barrier for the attacker.

Now, it looks as though a move for Easter Road man is indeed in the pipeline. Where he ends up, however, is anyone’s guess.

For Celtic fans who want Boyle at Parkhead, there will be a frustration that there are no reports of an offer coming in for him. At £3m, many may feel it’s a snip given his proven track record in Scottish football.

You have to wonder whether Celtic could really justify that price tag however. Is there really a massive need for the Hoops to go into the market for another winger? Especially one with such a hefty valuation.

Celtic still have James Forrest and Liel Abada competing for Boyle’s favoured right-wing position. The player himself won’t be stupid either. He’ll know game-time could very well be limited if he makes the move to Glasgow. Granted, it remains to be seen whether he’ll even get that opportunity.

One thing’s for sure, Celtic need move quickly if they want to bag their man.
