Report: Marian Shved facing Celtic limbo

Mechelen are struggling to complete another loan move for Celtic winger Marian Shved, The Sunday Post reports [11/07 print edition, Post Match supplement, page 12].

Shved has already made it clear he’d welcome a stay in Belgium. He’s already spent time on loan at the top-flight club last season.

Manager Wouter Vrancken eventually found a way to utilise him in his team after a difficult start last term. He now wants the Ukrainian in his squad this summer.

However, The Sunday Post reports that Mechelen are unsure whether they’ll be able to complete a deal for the attacking talent or not. They have still not reached an agreement with Celtic.

Marian Shved now in uncertain Celtic situation

It leaves Shved in a strange limbo at Celtic, having not been included in the pre-season training camp in Wales.

As it stands, it feels unlikely we’ll see the winger in action for Celtic again. He’s nowhere to be seen despite us having an urgent need in the position.

With other outcasts, such as Olivier Ntcham and Boli Bolingoli, involved in Wales, there are signs that the 23-year-old either isn’t wanted or doesn’t want to try and make it at Celtic.

Shved’s contract at the Bhoys doesn’t expire until 2023. So he’s due to remain on the books at the club until an exit is sorted out.

However, if Mechelen are trying to come back with another loan bid, it makes sense Celtic would want to hold out for a permanent fee.

They either want him or they don’t after trying before they buy last season.

In other news, AEK Athens give up on move for Celtic midfielder Olivier Ntcham.
