The summer signing of Hyun-jun Yang is only a matter of time for Celtic, according to a report.

The Hoops have been linked with the Gangwon winger in recent weeks as Brendan Rodgers looks to complete our third signing of the window.

As we told you earlier in the week, Yang is keen to make the move as soon as possible while his club would rather hold on to him until the winter.

Gangwon are in the midst of a relegation battle in the K League 1 and want to hold on to Yang for the rest of the 2023 season.

However, a fresh report from Korea has suggested that a resolution has been found and that Celtic are set to get their way.

Daily newspaper The Chosun Ilbo have released information on a meeting held on Wednesday between Yang and Gangwon CEO Kim Byung-ji.

Translated, they say that the club has “stepped back from its winter transfer stance” and that a “dramatic breakthrough” has been made.

The report finishes by saying: “In the end, with Kim’s open-minded and inclusive attitude, Yang’s controversial transfer to Celtic was only a matter of time before it became a reality.”

So it seems very much like Yang will be signed and announced in the next week or so.

Often these foreign reports can feel pretty detached from what is going on at Celtic, and a move can seem a long way off.

However, this one seems pretty likely to go through. The outlet in question is a reputable one in Korea and what they are saying is very definitive.

It seems like Hyun-jun Yang is a name we’ll be hearing a lot more about next season.
