Rob Holding is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, after some recent rumours about him moving to Celtic.

The England youth international has been with the Gunners since 2016, and is contracted at the club until next summer with the option of another year. (Arsenal)

Holding featured in just 14 of Arsenal‘s Premier League matches last season and could be heading for an exit this summer.

The Guardian’s Ed Aarons delivered an update on his future on Monday evening.

Aarons’ tweeted: “Understand that Rob Holding is expected to leave Arsenal this summer, either permanently or on loan.”

Aarons has over 63,000 followers on Twitter and seems to be a pretty trustworthy source.

From the report, we can conclude that Holding doesn’t have much of a future at Arsenal. But could Celtic pull off a deal? Are we even in for him?

At this point it’s worth stating that there haven’t been any concrete links between Celtic and the defender.

Almost all of the chat seems to have originated from a tweet from an account called Olt Sports.

In mid-June, they tweeted: “Rob Holding is close to an Arsenal exit. The Englishman will be available for a fee at the region of £8m.

“Brentford, Celtic and one unnamed club are in discussion with the players representatives.”

The tweet earned a lot of attention with Celtic fans, but there have been no other genuine links since. In truth, we can’t be sure there’s anything in the report at all.

If Holding is being allowed to leave Arsenal on loan it could make a deal more likely from a Celtic point of view.

We have a lot to offer players at the moment, including Champions League football, a chance to win trophies and the opportunity to work under an excellent manager.

Our view is that you shouldn’t expect this one to happen. But equally, don’t totally write it off.

Celtic are an attractive proposition right now.
