Ross County have applied for 750 fans to attend their upcoming SPFL game against Livingston on Friday night, according to the BBC Scottish football podcast.
The Premiership side are set to be in Tier One of the Scottish Government’s five-level lockdown system. That means that fans could mean that fans could attend their next match. However, as yet permission has not yet been granted. County have been in discussion with the Government for a week on the matter.
Less than 750 fans may be allowed to attend
“Ross County applied to have 750 at their game against Livingston on Friday night, I think they will probably fall just short of that, but I believe that they will be given the go-ahead for fans to return to those Tier One areas, the Scottish Government along with the SPFL and the joint response group have been in discussion for a week” BBC Scotland sports news correspondent Chris McLaughlin said, whilst appearing on the BBC Scottish football podcast (44m 29s; 03/11/20).
Ross County have already had fans attend one game this season, and that was against Celtic. 300 fans attended a pilot fixture against the Hoops back in September. Since then though, it’s been empty stadiums all the way.
That hasn’t stopped Celtic and Aberdeen from trying to get fans into the stadium though. Celtic had a bid to hist a pilot fixture rejected by the Government back in August.
Aberdeen’s plan to have 1000 fans attend the recent league game against Celtic was also rejected by the Government, much to the disappointment of their chairman Dave Cormack.
A long road to get fans back into stadiums
It does seem a long road to getting fans back into football grounds. It could depend on which Tier the football ground falls into.

Therefore, as the Highlands and Moray are in Tier One, fans could now attend games which involve Ross County and Inverness.
Peter Lawwell will no doubt be watching on with interest. As soon as Glasgow gets into Tier One, you imagine that he will be hoping to get fans into Celtic Park. However, that might yet be a long time away.
In other news, Chris Sutton hasn’t been all that impressed with Scott Bain’s recent Celtic displays.
