Aston Villa have today confirmed that 18-year-old rumoured Celtic target Aaron Ramsey has signed his first professional deal at the English top-flight outfit.

The Celts were reportedly monitoring the England Under-19 international’s contractual situation in January, as according to the Daily Mail. Ramsey’s deal was previously due to expire at the end of the current campaign.

Missing out on a talent of Ramsay’s potential for free will come as a blow to the Hoops recruitment team. Along with the likes of Liam Shaw and Kyle Joseph, Ramsey had been tipped as another shrewd signing from England.

Celtic supporters can take some solace, despite losing out on Villa starlet Aaron Ramsey

A new dawn beckons for Celtic in Europe, as Joe Hart shows his class once again

Despite missing out on Aaron Ramsey, Celtic fans can take some solace. The club are ostensibly being aggressive in pursuing young talent from England. That can only be a good thing, especially with the potential for resale value.

Youth recruitment is going to be a key area of interest for fans in the next few months. By scoping out as many avenues of interest as possible, this will build an invaluable understanding of the type of quality on offer. That conceivably gives Celtic an advantage over other clubs who will be looking to scout similar young talents.

For now, the recent news from the English Premier League club will see Ramsey stay put in the Midlands for the time being. Perhaps, Celtic could reignite their interest later down the line dependent on his career trajectory.
